If you haven’t heard, the greatest automotive show on the planet will be back June 15th! Yep, Top Gear will be back on the air in less than 45 days. When I went about my daily check of one of my favorite forums FinalGear.com , I noticed that the space at the top of the site where the countdowns normally are was counting down. All I have to say is that a combination of Top Gear starting soon and Gran Truismo 5 Prologue out… I will be a busy man.
Last night I had a soccer (football for the rest of the world) match for my high school. The other high school we were playing was almost last in the league and we expected this to be somewhat of an easy victory. But we ended up only winning by one, even though we should of won by 4 more goals, but every single one was called back by the referee. The referee was terrible, he even awarded a penalty kick that I ended up not being able to save, four minutes into the game.
To let all my frustration out I put up a video that made me feel a lot better. The second part of the Video is my favorite… Enjoy!
The countdown till I move to Ireland is nearing the end, I thought this would be a perfect way to immerse myself even more into Irish culture, then I currently have. Father Ted is about the lives of three Irish Catholic priests on the remote (and fictional) Craggy Island off the west coast of Ireland. I first saw Father Ted when I was staying with my uncle in Dublin. Ever since then I have been hooked! Its too bad they only produced three seasons of this spectacularly funny show. This is by far one of the funniest shows on TV today and one of my favorite comedy shows of all time. Kenny vs. Spenny is about two roommates, Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice, who are longtime friends who compete in these three day competitions and the loser has to do a humiliation. Some of these competitions range from who can win a rat race, who can make the biggest fart and who can keep a dead octopus on their head the longest. My school has recently found out about my use of Ultra Surf, which is a proxy software program which allows you to use another ip and port to get around blocked websites. I found a couple more proxies which are very similar to Ultra Surf and are in some ways, slightly better. Though you might get a kick out of this… its the Body-Laptop Interface. This strange knitted sweater is supposed to provide the user with "privacy, warmth, and concentration" when using the laptop in a public environment.
Today is the one year anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings. As a high school senior in Northern Virginia, I knew several people who were attending VT when the shooting occurred. My friends sister was actually interviewed and they later interviewed her parents who live down the street from me. It was kind of creepy to find out that Seung-Hui Cho lived in my county and lived two houses down from my grandparents house. He attended Westfield High School, where many of my friends go. All in all it was a very sad day for Hookies and everyone else who showed support to the families of the victims. I hope that this never has to happen again and that my heart goes out to the families and everyone else who was affected by this tragic event.
The things I would do to own a Maserati, let alone a Maserati MC12 are off the charts. Today, one of these spectacular German car killers is being sold on eBay for the low price of $1,200,000 and that’s just the starting bid. This beast has the same naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V-12 found in its sister car, the Ferrari Enzo. This massive V-12 pumps out 630 HP & 481 lb/ft of torque with only 521 miles on the odometer. This beautiful piece of Italian design and engineering was made in 2005 along with 24 others. Too bad one of those will never look the same again after a female driver crashed one in Switzerland. I recently purchased the new Verizon Fios for my tv and internet entertainment. They have been digging in my neighborhood for a long time now and its about time they finally install it in my house. The first thing i tested was the Fios TV, which isn’t as bad as i thought it was going to be.
The Fios TV has amazing features, great DVR, and HD channels. One of the main features that i really liked was because i have HBO, there is something called On Demand. On Demand allows me to go in and look under the HBO category and watch any of the movies they are showing, without having to wait till 11:00 at night, its basically like having them already recorded on your DVR. The DVR is also fairly good, but it wasn’t as good as my DISH DVR which i had before the Fios. The DVR doesn’t give you a lot of options when it comes to choosing whether or not if you want to record all the episodes of a tv show or just the new ones. It only allows you to do that after you have recorded a lot of that tv show or whatever else your recording. For example i watch a lot of English Premier League soccer on Fox Soccer Channel, and it records every showing of every game. So when i go into my DVR, there are three of the Everton vs. Chelsea game recorded. The other thing that is bothering me is that i don’t get GolTV, but i got FSC without having to order anything. When i had Dish i had GolTV before i got FSC but now its the other way around so i miss out on a lot of the Serie A, La Liga, and the Budesliga games. The only positive out of all of that is that i get some of the best HD channels, including Discovery HD, HBO HD, and National Geographic HD. Those are the HD channels with the best picture, in my opinion.
The Fios internet is fast, but it took me forever to get my Xbox 360 wirelessly connected to it. At first i thought it might of been my computer not allowing me to share the wireless with the Xbox, but it was my Fios router. So after and hour or so trying to figure out the problem, i called my friend Pete who knows a lot about computers and networks. So he came over and showed me all these shortcuts and ways to access my Verizon Fios account. When we tried to access the account the default password wasn’t workng and we found out about several different passwords. So we googled how we could reset the password and username. We found a forum that told us to hit the reset button and then enter in the default password. We must of reset the router 5 or 6 times to no evail. Then we tried seeing if my Xbox was the problem and after an hour at that, we didn’t know what else could of been the problem. So we decided to take a break to play some Guitar Hero II, which was probably the best way to refresh our minds and get back to the problem later.
After about three hours of Guitar Hero II (we didn’t realize how fast the time went by), we went back to my computer to try and figure out the problem. We reset the router/modem with the power button instead of the reset button. And to our luck it worked, we were able to access the the main control for my Fios Internet. The main menu was very very user friendly, and i was able to fix the problem and find my WEP key in less than a minute, no problem.
All-in-all, Verizon Fios is one of the best TV and Internet provider i have used. Everything works great once you figure out how to use it. Even after going through all the trouble of fixing my xbox connection problem, i’m not at all angered by Fios, im actually happy now that i know how everything works. So if you have Fios coming to your neighborhood or already have it in your neighborhood, i would suggest getting it. Also, i forgot to mention that i have the lowest base service they offer for the internet, and i can download a 100mb file in under a minute.
